Rules

General rules for all competitions

1. Introduction

Berlin Swing Revolution (BSR) follows the official German Swing Dance Club (GSDC) Competition Rules.

All rules in the GSDC rulebook apply at BSR unless we explicitly say otherwise below.
The sections below contain only BSR-specific additions and rules for our special divisions.

2. Special Divisions at BSR

These divisions have additional rules on top of the GSDC rulebook.

2.1 History Jack & Jill

2.1.1 Partners are assigned once per round. You stay with the same partner for the entire round.

2.1.2 You advance as a couple, not as individuals. Teamwork determines placement.

2.1.3 Music follows the “history / classic” theme (older swing/WCS music, one decade per dance).

2.1.4 Dance content and judging follow the general Jack & Jill rules.

2.2 Switch

2.2.1 No fixed roles. You must lead, follow, and switch roles during the dance.

2.2.2 Partners rotate for every dance, and competitors advance individually.

2.2.3 Dance content and general judging criteria follow the standard Jack & Jill rules.

2.2.4 In addition, judges evaluate:

  • the quality of dancing in both roles, and
  • the clarity, smoothness, and timing of role-switching within the couple.
