This year, we offer you 3 levels and we use your competition levels as a basis. But let's be honest to ourselves: we all kinds start from scratch again. So no auditions, just all of us learning to walk again.
Rewind to Refine
with Lee & Fabienne Easton
West Coast Swing didn’t develop in isolation. The way we dance today is the result of decades of changing music, dancers, communities and influences.
In this intensive, we’ll explore that evolution from the dance floor rather than from a history book. We’ll listen to the music of different eras, look at how dancers responded to it, and actually dance the styles and concepts that shaped West Coast Swing along the way.
Rather than simply learning a collection of historical steps, we’ll use each era as a way to understand the principles behind the dance: how timing, rhythm, movement, connection, musicality, styling and interpretation have changed—and what has remained at the core of WCS.
By experiencing these different approaches in your own body, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of where the dance comes from and why we dance it the way we do today. You’ll also get new tools for interpreting music, moving with greater intention, and making your own dancing more versatile and expressive.
You’ll leave with:
Also a perfect preparation for our History Jack & Jill later that night.
We only have extra room for private lessons before and after the workshop times. If you are interested in a private lesson with any of the pros at the event, please contact them directly to reserve a time.
