West Coast Swing

Level 2

You know the basics of West Coast Swing, but you still don’t feel confident when social dancing. In addition to improve your basics, you want to learn the West Coast Swing fundamentals and to be able to dance with any partner

You are not afraid of any tempos. You can social dance with partner of different levels (beginner to advanced) without any problem. Your interest is in trying to find your own style, as well as to start being more musical, not only using the beat of the music, but every of its accents; You want to learn new variations, as well as new moves.

Level 4 (with WSDC intermediate points only)

You don’t have anymore problem with your basics, you know the WCS fundamentals, footwork variations and various more complex patterns. You are comfortable social dancing with any partner. You don’t hesitate to dance on fast tempos, but probably have sometimes connection problems. You also want to improve your style.

Anyone with WSDC Intermediate points and above can enter this level automaticially.

Advanced/All-Star Level (Level 5)

The special workshops for our highest level dancers. You need to be advanced or all-star by WSDC definition. Be prepared, the teachers are instructed to push you out of your comfort zone.

We decided to try something new at Berlin Swing Revolution and remove the dedicated audition from this event. Instead we have a two-fold system:

Take a workshop

We still have a level differentiation to give you an idea what is required and to put people of a similar level together. In addition, teachers can send you to a higher level, if they see fit. This can happen at any time during the weekend (think of it as a happy surprise you could receive).

Experience a workshop

In addition to the normal participation, we allow you to experience a workshop in a higher level as a spectator. Being a spectator in a class means:

  • there must be enough space for the regular participants
  • you bring your own partner and do not rotate with the rest of the class
  • like a spectator in a movie or theatre, you’re there to watch, not interact. Please abstain from asking question or commenting during class

And always keep in mind: you never stop learning, no matter what class you are in. There’s always something you’ve already heard and something new to take with you from the workshop.

Special Workshop: West Coast Swing Time Machine

On Friday before the party, we offer an extra workshop to learn about the history of West Coast Swing (hands on, you will be dancing like back in the days!). Perfect preparation for our History Jack & Jill later that night.

We only have extra room for private lessons before and after the workshop times. If you are interested in a private lesson with any of the pros at the event, please contact them directly to reserve a time.
